In this research, the effect of water submitted to a magnetic field on workability and compressive strength of mortar was studied. To achieve this objective, tap, distilled and deionized water were used to produce the mortars. All the three types of water were submitted to 1 Tesla magnetic field during one hour. Tests were performed at the mortars produced with two types of cement: high early strength cement and low rate pozzolanic cement. Through the results, was possible to note that the mortar’s strength was not affected, differing the literature. Nevertheless, mortar's with water submitted to a magnetic field presented higher consistency value. It does explain why some researchers in the literature found a higher compressive strength when keeping the consistency value constant, and changing water/cement rate. |
