Tungsten carbide (WC) coatings are one of the most used in the industry, in aerospace, automotive, transportation and power generation systems. The present work aims to improve the surface mechanical properties of the substrate by applying a spray coating sprayed WC coating and subsequent CO2 laser irradiation, in order to promote the sintering of the material. The samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) to ascertain the phases present after the laser irradiation process, Vickers hardness measurements and wear test. The results show that it is possible to obtain coatings with high hardness, without pores and with diffusion between the materials |
