In order to analyze its photocatalytic performance, the oxide was placed in contact with glucose, sucrose, peptone and surfactant solutions in batch reactors exposed to ultraviolet radiation. The experiments were performed in different pH ranges (3, 5, 7 and 9) for further verification of the total organic carbon content present in the samples. Photocatalytic degradation of substrates showed good results when compared to the use of pure TiO2 as a photocatalyst. Moreover, it was found that the efficiency of degradation decays as the pH of the solution is raised. Possible reasons for the occurrence of these phenomena are discussed.
