In this work, the production of low-impact vitreous foams for thermal insulation, using fluorescent lamp glass residues and white eggshell as foaming agents. The influence of the firing temperature, percentage of foaming agent and granulometry of the precursor materials on the expansion, density, porosity, mechanical strength, and thermal conductivity of the material were evaluated. The precursor agents had their chemical compositions, crystal structures, and granulometries elucidated by X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction and laser scattering analysis techniques, respectively. The thermogravimetric analysis was used to evaluate the loss of mass of the white eggshell during the heating. The vitreous foams were formulated with 5% (wt/wt %) of foaming agents, formed by uniaxial pressing and burnt at 650 °C to 900 °C, with a heating rate of 2.5 ° C min-1. The best results were achieved at 700 °C, showing the production of highly porous ceramics, with high expansion of up to 500%, with low density (0.24 g cm-3), reaching mechanical resistance of 1.43 ± 0.37 MPa and thermal conductivity of 0.131 to 0.282 W mK-1 (from 100 to 600 ° C). It is worth mentioning that the proposal presented here presents an alternative for final disposal of solid wastes and consequent application of commercial value for tailings of fluorescent lamps and egg shells. In addition, the synthesized material is innovative, sustainable and low cost, which can perform thermal insulation functions.
