Abstract

The nano-ceramic was characterized by thermogravimetry (ATD/TG), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), specific surface area (BET) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The phase formation was confirmed by FT-IR and the XRD pattern shows single phase ceramic of tetragonal symmetry. Using microwave radiation during the synthesis resulted in BZT powders with smaller particle sizes and less BaCO3 formation. The microstructure of BZT powders prepared by a modified Pechini method using microwave energy analyzed by SEM showed nanosized spherical morphology with average particle sizes of 50 nm.
