Thus, this work aims to make a rheological and thixotropic study of dispersions of new occurrences of bentonite clays in the state of Paraíba, Brazil, in the use in organic drilling fluids. The characterization of the samples was carried out through X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, particle size analysis, differential thermal analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, cation exchange capacity and specific area. After this, the samples were organophilized with quaternary ammonium salt and again characterized. A rheological and thixotropic study of the samples was carried out based on the Petrobras standard EP-1EP-00023-A, 2011, also evaluating the swelling of the dispersions and flow curves. Results show that one of the samples under study presented satisfactory rheological and thixotropic properties for use in organic drilling fluids. |
